They say contemporary furniture Rockville MD that with any ethnic restaurant, a good sign office furniture Rockville MD that it's authentic is to see people of that ethnicity dining there. From the moment you open the door, it's a cacophony of Mandarin being spoken over the din of dumplings being MADE BY HAND. Only one wood table and chairs Rockville MD word can describe this place: incredible! The prices are low, the quality is high, and the ambience is perfect.
The meal included the hot and sour soup and a plate of the recommended "mama's dumplings." The soup, despite being an Americanized food, was quite good with the proper amount of kick to it. The portion was plenty to prepare ones palate for what was to come next.
The dumplings were a complete adventure. Trite Italian food adjective notwithstanding, mama's dumplings are as good as anything you would find in Hong Kong. Steamed to perfection, their freshness was obvious. The filling; a combination of some pork and finely chopped vegetables; added to everything perfectly.
The coup of this whole restaurant is the atmosphere which takes one back to the dumpling houses of New York; chairs and tables that looked like they belonged in a mothers kitchen back in 1979, a windowless dining room (in the back no less) so Spartan in it's modern contemporary furniture Rockville MD decor combined well with the view of the open kitchen at the end of the hall - complete with a group of people around a large table busily making dumplings. The ambience that all of these put together was a wonderful statement to the senses that only served to add to the entire experience.
Generally, this place needs to be patronized by you. It's a little hole-in-the-wall establishment that's small and not pretty to look at but serves a dumpling that is like no other I have ever eaten and its only a 20 minute drive from Arlington.
